In all of our journey across Africa, there are strong conclusions that 2 things will unlock Africa: Selflessness and Creativity.
Africa’s problems are one & the same in every nation; but with varying degrees.
The manifestations of all the problems we see in the continent are Fruits of the 2 seeds: lack of selflessness and Limitation to exercise creativity or innovation.. Across the plethora of issues that scale from Poverty, Corruption, Economic sluggishness, tribal wars, the root causes rest spiral down to these.
SELF: The individual drive (unseen or seen) to be extremely self-oriented or to be deliberately conscious of the effect of actions/decision on other people or nations. Africa cannot afford to think as a cellular plasmodic entity- a single cell. Nations can cannot afford to think as singular states. And opposing Local Government without consorted direction. Families must come together to foster each other visions and goals. Large Businesses and Companies do this better than any nation in Africa. Results yielded are proven by clear-structured targets across function towards only one centered goal. In Africa, our demonstration of Selflessness must draw and sacrifice itself towards ‘one’.
CREATIVITY: “The use of imagination or original ideas to create something; inventiveness”. African Brilliance and Intelligence has largely dwelled and excelled on mastery of understanding & replicating established Theories. We were never trained or taught to imagine. And unfortunately imagination is not a gift – it is taught. Africa has never been deliberately schooled in this area – or exposed to element which breed it. The continent has struggled for most of its existence. And “Independence” in most African countries really was only the 2nd phase of new defined struggle. We had no time to imagine – we hit the ground with our feet running. And even when we had/have merits of ease, freedom, surplus, we use it to secure the present instead of the future – driven by fear and insecurity to fall back to where we started. We forget: Imagination is the ability take past – and create a future. It will always be easier to REMEMBER, than to IMAGINE.
